Eric reviews University of Ottawa's Hypergrammar website

Name: Hypergrammar http://www.uottawa.ca/academic/arts/writcent/hypergrammar/grammar.html
Level & Skill: This site is obviously for grammar purposes, as it provides and in depth breakdown of grammar rules and definitions. This site could probably be used by anyone with a basic understanding about grammar, as this site allows the user to follow their own line of thought, but low level learners could easily get lost or become confused.
Interactive: No, however, as stated above the learner does have a great deal of control and freedom over what they want to read about.
ESL/NON-ESL: This site was not created with ESL students in mind, it is purely an academic site intended for native English speakers.
What makes it good?: I think this website may prove to be a little overwhelming , even for someone who has a good understanding of grammar. As is the nature of grammar, it can be difficult to fully understand one grammar point without understanding one or two other grammar rulesw. On the other hand this site could be quite useful for reviewing grammar. I believe it will depend on the learner and what they are looking for: are they trying to learn grammar or review grammar. However, all things aside this website is an excellent source for grammar, as it was created by four university proffesors. A teacher who finds themselves teaching a grammar class when they are not very confident in their skills, would probably find a lot of use for this site.
