Review #2

Name: http://www.englishlearner.com

Level & Skill: It can cater to beginners and up to advanced level students.

Interactive: Definitely

ESL/Non-ESL: ESL

What makes it good: I think a student could have some fun at this site, there is hangman game, crossword puzzles, cloze tests and many more grammar tests. Learners could definitely have fun with some of these games, other they may find frustrating, which is not necessarily a bad thing. This site even provides ideas for teachers; they have games that can be used to warm up the class and activate their schema. However, if there are any complaints to be made it is that the site is ugly, the colour of the site is ugly, and the layout of the site is not very professional looking. The impact of this is that a site that is other wise quite useful is that it dose not look very credible and dose not create a good vibe for learning, this site could use a bit of a makeover.

"Hmmmmm"

You know I was sitting there staring at my kick ass blog when I realized somthing, nowhere on this site have I actually defined what TESL is, all these poor people checking out my site, wondering, "What in the hell is a tesl". Well, allow me to enlighten everyone, tesl stands for teaching English as a second language. Now it is completely possible that the only people who will visite this place are my fellow colleages, and don't get me wrong, I do enjoy them all, but I really want to expand this blog beyond tesl, I want to intergrate everything in my life onto this one place because I am just to lazy to create two different blogs, that is far to much work.

Eric reviews University of Ottawa's Hypergrammar website

Name: Hypergrammar http://www.uottawa.ca/academic/arts/writcent/hypergrammar/grammar.html
Level & Skill: This site is obviously for grammar purposes, as it provides and in depth breakdown of grammar rules and definitions. This site could probably be used by anyone with a basic understanding about grammar, as this site allows the user to follow their own line of thought, but low level learners could easily get lost or become confused.
Interactive: No, however, as stated above the learner does have a great deal of control and freedom over what they want to read about.
ESL/NON-ESL: This site was not created with ESL students in mind, it is purely an academic site intended for native English speakers.
What makes it good?: I think this website may prove to be a little overwhelming , even for someone who has a good understanding of grammar. As is the nature of grammar, it can be difficult to fully understand one grammar point without understanding one or two other grammar rulesw. On the other hand this site could be quite useful for reviewing grammar. I believe it will depend on the learner and what they are looking for: are they trying to learn grammar or review grammar. However, all things aside this website is an excellent source for grammar, as it was created by four university proffesors. A teacher who finds themselves teaching a grammar class when they are not very confident in their skills, would probably find a lot of use for this site.

Chad gets crippled

My housemate chad ran over his foot today, because to was to busy trying to get to the mandrine instead of focusing on what he was doing....of course no one else realized the car was rolling backwards until chad's foot was planted under the tire.

p.s. i would like to give a shout out to Mark Lister

Eric creates a blog

I was forced against my will and better judgement to create a blog for my TESL program...so i guess I am supposed to write...i mean blog about tesl and tesl related activities...but i will prolly just use this to blog talk about how sic pearl jam is, politics and trying to pick up girls...cause ckicks dig tesl teachers right??
